Tented camp in the central Serengeti
Hippo Trails Camp is a mobile-style tented camp in the Central Serengeti, strategically positioned near the Seronera Valley — widely regarded as the best year-round game viewing area in the entire Serengeti ecosystem. The camp takes its name from the hippo pools along the Seronera River, a must-visit attraction where large pods of hippos can be observed at close range. The camp features 12 spacious safari tents with en-suite bathrooms including bush showers and flush toilets, comfortable beds with quality linens, and private verandas for wildlife watching. The communal dining tent serves hearty safari cuisine, and the campfire area provides the quintessential African evening experience — star-filled skies, crackling fire, and the sounds of the Serengeti night. The Central Serengeti around Seronera supports extraordinary year-round wildlife populations including large prides of lions, leopards in the riverine forests, cheetahs on the open plains, and massive herds of wildebeest and zebra. The Great Migration passes through the central area during parts of the year. Special camping fees are not included in the accommodation rate.
