A very early start from Arusha, around half past five, for the four-hour drive west into the Ngorongoro highlands. We descend onto the crater floor for the middle of the day: lion, elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and hippo, with flamingo on Lake Magadi. Picnic lunch inside the crater. We climb out in the afternoon and drive back, reaching Arusha in the evening. It is a long day in the vehicle for the time you get below.
