Acacia woodlands, riverine forests, seasonal swamps, open grasslands, and ancient baobab-studded landscapes. The Tarangire River and Silale Swamp are key ecosystem features. Dominated by ancient baobab trees, umbrella acacias, and sausage trees. Swamp areas feature dense vegetation including palms and tall grasses. Open plains with scattered acacias.

Accessible by road from Arusha (2 hours). Main entrance at the northern gate. Good tarmac road to the park entrance.
