Depart Arusha at 6:30 AM and drive east to Mkomazi National Park (2 hours). Enter the park and begin morning game drive through the Acacia-Commiphora bushland. Visit the Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary for a guided tour of the black rhino conservation program.

Picnic lunch in the bush. Afternoon game drive through the eastern circuits, searching for lesser kudu, gerenuk, fringe-eared oryx, and African wild dog. Explore the riverine areas for birdlife including the endemic Friedmann's lark.
